PARTIAL DROP in temperatures were recorded across the State today, though it did not bring much relief from the terrible heat. However, with the met office predicting subsiding of the heat wave that has been raging over the State for the last five days and further slight drop in temperatures, denizens can look for some respite.

On Tuesday temperatures in most parts of the State showed a drop of about 0.5 to one degrees. The highest temperature was recorded at Khajuraho at 46 degrees. The Capital recorded a maximum day temperature of 42.7 degrees; about 0.6 degrees lower than that recorded on Monday. In other parts of the State Indore recorded maximum of 42.8, Gwalior – 43.1 and Jabalpur – 43.4.

Regional Meteorological Centre Director Dr D P Dubey said the heat wave was expected to subside on Wednesday and temperatures would record a further partial fall. He also said the trough formed over Eastern MP was intensifying and was expected to develop into upper air circulation system in two or three days. This would bring some rain and thundershowers to Eastern parts of the State and consequent drop in temperatures.
