To ensure free and fair polls during the second phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, a large number of paramilitary forces have been deployed in polling centres across 50 constituencies.

Security has been tightened in Ghaziabad with the deployment of a maximum number of 91 companies, while 90 companies are deployed in Muzaffarnagar and districts bordering Delhi, Haryana and Uttarakhand, IG police V K Morya said on Monday elaborating on the security arrangements in place for the second phase of polls.

Delhi, Haryana and Uttarakhand borders have been sealed by creating barriers, Morya said adding that the local police will look after the law and order situation.

During the second phase of elections on Friday, polling will take place in 58 Assembly seats in 10 districts, including nine districts of Muzaffarnagar.
