Moderate Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to United Nations secretary general Ban ki-Moon through his emissaries in Pakistan and seeks his intervention to end latest border hostilities in Kashmir.

"We hope you will use your influence to prevail upon both India and Pakistan to take steps for a peaceful and permanent resolution of the Kashmir dispute as per their wishes and aspirations," said Mirwaiz in the written memorandum.

The memorandum of Mirwaiz was handed over to Moon through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir based Hurriyat representative Yusuf Naseem in Islamabad in the afternoon.

The Mirwaiz told the Hindustan Times in Srinagar that he has raised the issue of recent border hostilities and silence of the world community with the UN secretary general.

"The recent violent incidents on the LoC and the fatalities, yet again point to the rather desperate need for the appointment of a rapporteur," said Mirwaiz.
