With Nepal once again in the grip of a political turmoil, the security forces deployed at 500-km long porus Indo-Nepal border in eastern Uttar Pradesh have been put on high alert to thwart any kind of anti-India activities.
The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), a para military force manning the border, has increased security alertness in border areas in eastern UP, an SSB official said.
Security forces and intelligence units have been already alerted and we are maintaining round the clock vigil at the border and taking a serious note of even a minute's happening, Brij Som, Deputy Inspector General of SSB, said.
Five districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh including Siddharthnagar, Marajganj, Shrawasti, Balrampur and Bahraich share about 500-km long border with the neighboring country.
With about 70 SSB check posts along the Indo-Nepal border, forces are carrying out regular combing on 'no man's land' and close circuit television cameras have also been installed at the sensitive points to monitor the activities, SSB sources said.
The intelligence agencies are regularly giving inputs to the government that taking the advantage of democratic crisis in Nepal arising after the resignation of Prime Minister Prachanda, terror groups may carry out their anti-India activity through the open border.
