Member of Parliament Madan Lal Sharma has appealed to the state government to enhance the benefit to marginalised communities under various social protection schemes.
While addressing a public meeting at Maralia in RS Pura, he demanded for increase in pension to old age, widows and differently-abled people to Rs 1,500. He asked the government to add more state share and enhance pension of these vulnerable sections of society on the pattern of states like Haryana, Punjab and Goa. He quoted that in some states like Punjab and UP, apart from the basic pension of Rs 1,500, Rs 450 are given extra to the beneficiary.
Sharma said that this is the right of marginalised communities and government should deliver as per the requirement and on time also. He also demanded clearing all pending cases in the state and appealed to the state social welfare department to float a special proposal to Centre for clearance of backlog.
Sharma stressed upon the need to improve the road connectivity in Maralia and other villages of RS Pura. He directed the sectoral officers on the occasion to ensure the quality of works and proper implementation of centrally-sponsored schemes.
