The Himachal Pradesh government is planning to develop a tourist circuit covering important temples in five districts at a cost of Rs 80 million.

The objective of the project is to provide basic amenities to tourists visiting the districts of Hamirpur, Mandi, Bilaspur, Kullu and Lahaul & Spiti, Mandi divisional commissioner KJBV  Subramanium said.

The project was also aimed at creating an environment that would attract more tourists to the temple circuit and also make them consider a prolonged stay in state.

The temples to be covered under the project include those of Baba Balak Nath in Hamirpur, Maan Naina Devi in Bilaspur, Hadimba Maata in Kullu, Tarna temple in Mandi, Malan village in Kullu and Dhankar in Lahaul-Spiti.

The deputy commissioners of the five districts would meet this week to finalise details of the project, he added.

The administration has also sought people's views on the proposed project.
