THE RSS is planning to hold 85 Hindu Sammelans in various colonies on Sunday as part of the Guru Golwarkar’s birth centenary celebrations. The RSS expects two to three thousand Hindus to take part in each of these Sammelans.
These Sammelans will be absolutely apolitical, as no local saffron leaders (even corporators) have been invited to take part in them. Rather saints, who have been invited to deliver lectures on Hindu religion and the dangers confronting it, will dominate the event. The issues that will be in focus include the skewed population ratio, cultural onslaught by the West, the scourge of dowry and foeticide, Ram temple, conversion and infiltration among others.
Food would be provided to those attending these sammelans. The local RSS cadres have been working for the past fortnight to make the arrangements. Most of the contributions have come from local shopkeepers and traders in the form of cash and goods.
The RSS plans to hold 150 such Sammelans this month. They have organised 20 such Sammelans so far.
