The Hindustan Times was on Friday awarded the International Press Institute India Award for Excellence in Journalism 2014 for its series against acid attacks .

The award was presented to editor-in-chief Sanjoy Narayan by Union minister of state for environment, forests and climate change Prakash Javadekar at a function in Delhi.

Hindustan Times won the award for a powerful public interest campaign against acid attacks. The jury commended the paper for focusing attention on a heinous crime and raising awareness.
