A HISTORY-SHEETER was brutally murdered last night by a group of around 10 to 12 persons in Mukherjee Nagar, falling under Banganga area.

The incident occurred at around 12.30 am. The deceased identified as Bablu (27) alias Narendra was sleeping on the first floor of his house last night. He was woken up and told to come down. When he came down, he was attacked by armed assailants.

Even as the deceased kept shouting for help and screaming in pain, he was attacked with swords, knives and iron rods. He fell down on the road due to the impact of the blows.

The attackers kept on stabbing him and ultimately shot him on the head. While fleeing they fired in the air to scare away and prevent anyone from following them.

Police said that after they fled the deceased’s pregnant wife, Sonu and his two brothers, Nitesh and Manoj who live nearby came and took him to the MY Hospital, but he died on the way.

Police said that they had identified the assailants as Goldy, Sailu Jaiswal, Ramjane, Macchi, and six to seven others. Those identified live in the Khushwaha Nagar and the Banganga Naka area, and all of them have criminal records. Police are understood to have arrested Goldy.

The exact reason behind the murder is not yet clear, but Shailu and the deceased had heated exchanges in the evening, but the matter had apparently subsided. Police believe that looking at the brutal nature of the murder, some woman-related issue must be the reason behind it.

Police said that the deceased did not enjoy a good reputation in the area. He was a habitual drinker, a womaniser and had 15 cases registered against him. He was mainly a vehicle thief, but he also had a case under Section 307 of IPC against him.

He had been externed from the district thrice, and even booked once for coming in the district within the externment period. He was released from jail around couple of months ago.

The deceased Bablu had married Sonu only a few months ago. As a result of this marriage, he was living with his wife in a rented house owned by Sanjay Sisodiya, while his parents and two brothers lived in another house nearby.

Bablu was dragged out of the house in front of the eyes of his wife. She watched helplessly as they killed her husband. When the landlord Sanjay Sisodiya came out to stop the assailants, they threatened him with pistol and other arms.
