Economic slowdown claimed the life of a depressed 26-year-old, who lost three jobs in the last six months.
Allen Panchal was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his rented house in Parmar building in Andheri (West) by a neighbour on Friday.
The DN Nagar police said Panchal was first employed at Wipro’s call centre and after being laid off, got a job at Saitel’s call centre.
But he lost that job too.
Panchal then turned disc jockey and played at small private parties, but was unsuccessful.
During the same period his relationship with his girlfriend soured over his financial unstability, the police said.
Panchal then slipped into depression, his family told the police.
“Panchal did not share a good relation with his family and preferred to stay alone, sharing room with other men,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dilip Suryavanshi.
“Since the last few months, he used to stay alone after his roommates left one by one,” said Panchal’s neighbour P. Pujari.
He added that Panchal used to earlier live with his family nearby, but after they moved to Nallasopara, he rented a flat there.
“Panchal was an introvert, he hardly interacted with anyone,” said another neighbour, refusing to give his name.
Panchal is survived by his mother Mercy and brother Sagar, who could not be contacted.
