Hizbul Mujahideen district commander killed in J&K

A self-styled district commander of Hizbul Mujahideen was killed in an encounter with security forces.

A self-styled district commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat was killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district on Sunday.

Codenamed Aizaz, Bhat was an IED expert and responsible for IED attacks on security forces in Bemina, Nishad and Burnhall high school here, a defence spokesman said.

He was active in the Valley since 1993.

The defence spokesman described his killing as a major achievement for security forces and a big setback for the Hizbul Mujahideen.
