Delhi BJP election in charge Nitin Gadkari has asked senior BJP leaders to concentrate on door-to-door campaigns to connect with the masses instead of merely organizing public rallies.

Gadkari has also reportedly told all senior leaders not to hold any big rally after the September 29 rally that will be addressed by the party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

Many senior leaders are of the opinion that usually supporters of star campaigners, rather than the common people, attend such rallies. “Gadkariji has strictly told them that public connect is important for winning elections, which can only happen when they start interacting with the public and not their supporters,” said a senior BJP leader.

“Many times, people from neighbouring towns are made to attend these rallies to show that there is a huge gathering. Buses are used to ferry people from their homes to the venue. The party high-command has cautioned the leaders not to indulge in such practices,” said another senior BJP leader.
