Make your house a flamboyant and bright abode this New Year. From precious stones to metallic bling, from the vintage to the modern laser cut technology, 2011 offers all this and more. Trends for the year suggest closeness towards nature, clean lines in furniture and modern pendant chandeliers. Below are the big trends that you could keep in mind if planning on giving your house a revamp:
Flamboyant colours: 2011 would be the year of flamboyance and the bright and colourful tones of furniture will pump up the home décor world. For this you can either look for bright wall paints, or the colourful furniture designs, which make a quick and easy way to elevate the vibe of your residence. The year will see a departure from the sober charcoal and grey tones that dominated this past year and gold or the honeysuckle are the colour of the season. It’s chic, fashionable and synergy prone.
Run it around: Concept of using a particular motif and running it across the home with different techniques is very much in vogue. The blinds in the room could have an enlarged motif, while the main curtains have miniature versions of the same. Also, motifs that reflect movement and tradition from nature will be popular.
Bling it on: Accent cushions or throw cushions with bling and shimmer are in trend this year. All the metallic tones that bring the element of glam in the house must be displayed.
Laser and lace: The technique of laser cutting with different applications is here to stay. Consumers can expect to see puckers, pleats, tweeds, frayed edges, woven-in ribbons and embossing on the fabrics. While patterned metals, etched ceramics and wood with scoring, stenciling and stamping will accent tables, chairs and decorative accessories.
Going natural: The use of environment friendly products will set a trend in 2011, from fig to marigold flower, and from the calming waves to the sand dune ripples. Following the global trend of going green, the focus will persistently shift to a lot more nature friendly or environmentally friendly options as well.
Vintage and modern style: When it comes to styles, a merge of vintage and modern is going to be the highlight, which means a classic urn, will be enhanced by metallic handles.
Lighting: Modern pendants (chandeliers) are going to be the highlight of the year 2011. Today one can easily find a wide array of designs of the modern and stylish chandeliers at stores in the city.
