Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for Rani Rampal, who has been adjudged as player of the tournament in the Junior Women Hockey World Cup, held at Germany.
Rani, who hails from Shahbad, represented the Indian hockey team which won bronze medal in the tournament.
Hooda also announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for Baldev Singh, coach of women hockey players of the state who represented India in the tournament.
Hooda had earlier announced a cash award of Rs 5 lakh for each of the six women hockey players of the state who played in the tournament.
While five players hail from Shahbad, the sixth one is from Hisar. The sports policy of the state government provides cash reward of Rs 3 lakh but keeping in view the exceptional performance of the state players at the international level, the state government has announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh each by relaxing the policy.
