Here's a look at some of the hot and happening food from all over.
Chinese food, Sichuan-style
Sichuan cuisine is not known for its delicate flavours — it’s bold, spicy and pungent, just the way Delhiites like it. At the ‘Best of Sichuan!’ festival, master chef Mike Li Wei and his team of four expat chefs present an a la carte menu featuring an array of seafood, poultry and vegetarian dishes. On till August 22 at Hao Shi Nian Nian, M-Block market, GK-II and Golf Course Road, Gurgaon.
A date with the queen of fish
Seafood lovers look forward to the monsoons as this is the time when the famed Hilsa fish is at its flavourful best. Feast on a variety of preparations of this silvery fish, Bengali-style, at the ongoing Hilsa Festival at Oh! Calcutta. On offer are dishes such as Ilish Maacher Matha Diye Chorchori, Aam diye Ilish, Dhone Patar Bhapa Ilish, Sosha Ilish, and more. Check out the delicacies on offer at Oh! Calcutta, International Trade Tower, E-Block, Nehru Place.
Game for bulls’ testicles?
Over 15,000 culinary daredevils from around the world are certainly enthusiastic about tasting ‘testies’, or ‘cowboy caviar’, as bulls’ gonads are commonly called. They are participating in the 28th annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Festival, or Testicle Festival, in Montana, USA, that began on Wednesday. Deep fried bulls’ testicles are prepared in hot Louisiana sauce, then served with chips and beer. The ‘chewy’ dish is not for the faint-hearted!
