Hotelier's son shot dead

A hotelier's son was allegedly shot dead by the nephew of a Shiromani Akali Dal MLA in the wee hours here today, police said.

A hotelier's son was allegedly shot dead by the nephew of a Shiromani Akali Dal MLA in the wee hours here today, police said.

32-year-old Gur Kerat Singh, son of hotelier Rajbir Singh, was shot dead at 1.45 AM by Shiromani Akali Dal MLA from Adampur Sarabjit Singh Makkar's nephew Ram Simran Singh Makkar and his three accomplices, police inspector Sakartar Singh said.

An FIR against the four accused has been filed on a complaint of Rajbir, he said. Rajbir, owner of Hotel Sekhon Grand, in his FIR alleged that Ram Singh along with his three associates killed Gur Kerat Singh.

The other accused are Amardeep Singh Sani, Jaspreet Singh Jassu and Prince Narula. A probe is on in the matter and efforts are on to nab the accused, he said. Police is trying to find out the reason behind the murder, he said. The body has been sent for post mortem, he said.
