A housewife was injured when a powerful grenade, hurled by militants, exploded in Imphal East district of Manipur, police said on Saturday.

Sources said the militants lobbed the grenade at the house of an Agriculture officer of Manipur Agriculture department N Sarat at Wangkhei Mayengbam Leikai area near Imphal late on Friday night.

Wife of Sarat, Modhubala Devi was injured as the grenade exploded at around 7.30 pm. On Friday, sources said adding that she was taken to Regional Institute of Medical Science and Hospital in Imphal where her condition was stated to be serious.
