Adhyayan Suman is smitten by girlfriend Kangana Ranaut. So much so that he has vowed never to look deeply into the eyes of another actress while shooting a romantic sequence.
“I fell in love with Kangana while shooting the song
. I had looked very deeply into her eyes.” And what was it that he saw in her eyes? “The way she had put her
,” he laughs. “In fact, I have decided never to look so deeply into the eyes of another actress.”
He adds, “I always knew that even Kangana liked me.” So who proposed? “Kangana did [Laughs]. Actually, it was very mutual and obvious,” he smiles. No matter how much love the couple [Adhyayan and Kangana] profess for each other — their professional stands are different.
Kangana has reportedly refused to promote
because she feels that the Bhatts have used their affair to publicise the movie. “If Kangana feels that way, it’s her stand. I don’t think so. In fact, I’m not sure if she feels like that. You will see her promote the film. She will give interviews with me.”
The 20-year-old actor is all praise for Kangana but maintains that he wants to build his own identity. “She is a wonderful co-star. I have got to learn a lot from her. I don’t want to be known as Kangana Ranut’s boyfriend.”
Is that how he is recognised? “Yes, and as Shekhar Suman’s son. I want to make an identity where people will say, ‘Look, that’s Adhyayan Suman’s father’. I have struggled to get here. I had to lose 50 kgs from my 120 kg frame... I am struggling, I am a nobody... but out to be a somebody.” And the actor is all set to do that.
Raaz-The Mystery Continues
, he has his father’s home production and three more films in hand. “Which guy my age has so much work? All my friends party and ask me what I am doing, and I say I am shooting. But it will benefit me in the long run.”
Playing a variety of characters in all films, he says he feels blessed. “In
, I play an ambitious documentary filmmaker who wants to debunk the idea of superstition, in
I play a carefree character who thinks everything is easy in life, in another film a mentally unstable guy who has lost his wife. ‘Who has got to play such meaty roles so early on?’ he questions.”
The actor has even turned a singing sensation in campuses in Mumbai. “I was humming a tune in my room and a friend said that I sing well. Next up, I was performing songs from Raaz in colleges. It was great seeing a crowd of 10,000 go all mad.”
Adhyayan is however quick to disown his “original debut”
which released this year. “I don’t talk about that film. I don’t like talking about it. This is my debut,” he says.
