The Himachal Pradesh government would explore the possibility of making its handloom and handicrafts products available through e-shopping, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said on Thursday.
Besides, the state government would carry exhaustive publicity campaign to create demand for the same in the domestic and international markets, Dhumal said in a statement in Shimla.
Since the state handlooms were exclusive and unique in its designs, pattern and quality they have the potential to attract buyers from within and outside the country, it said.
He said that telemarketing was the latest trend in shopping and the HP Handloom and Handicraft Corporation needed to study prevalent market pattern to enhance its sales.
Dhumal underlined the need to create franchises at all big malls, airports to generate demand for its products.
He also advised to get in touch with the CommonWealth organising committee and pursue them to select state handlooms and handicrafts products as souvenirs to the participating dignitaries and sportspersons.
