Fresh snowfall coupled with intermittent rains revived cold conditions in high reaches of Himachal Pradesh, while mercury rose in the rest of the state on Thursday.

Though the sky was overcast in capital Shimla for the entire day, there was no rain. The day was comparatively warmer with night temperature rising to 10.7 degrees Celsius against 9.5 degrees on Wednesday, Met office said.

The tribal belt was receiving intermittent rains since last night. Keylong, district headquarter of Lahaul-Spiti, was the coldest place with temperature settling at minus 10.4 degrees. In Kalpa in Kinnaur district it has shrugged off the sub-zero level and rose to one degree.

Emergency helicopter service from Bhuntar airport to Killar in Chamba district was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Night temperature at Sundernagar was recorded at 6.8 degrees, Bhuntar 3.4 degrees, Una 4.8 degrees and Dharamsala 8.1 degrees.

The Met office has forecast rain or snowfall in isolated areas on Friday.
