Bringing cheer to below poverty line (BPL) card holders in the district, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) has expedited the process of allotting its low-cost houses built for economically weaker sections (EWS) in Sector 47.
The Huda has constructed 600 EWS flats in Sector 47, which will be allotted to BPL card holders in Gurgaon. Another 600 flats are also under construction in the same sector.
“We have initiated the process in this regard. We held a meeting with Gurgaon deputy commissioner PC Meena and hope that applications will be invited from deserving candidates in a month or two,” said Huda administrator Praveen Kumar.
A list of BPL candidates will be issued to Huda by the district administration.
Once the authority gets the list, it will invite applications through advertisements.
“After a scrutiny of the applications, an open lucky draw will be held to allot flats,” said a Huda official.
The Huda had earlier invited applications for the EWS flats, but a majority of applicants did not fulfil the eligibility criteria.
There are nearly 40,000 BPL card holders in Gurgaon.
