A junior engineer of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) faces suspension after it was found that he had allegedly allowed use of inferior quality materials for the construction of a road.
Huda administrator Praveen Kumar on Sunday asked executive engineer Naresh Pawar to file charges against junior engineer Shamsher Singh, 52 and suspend him. He also asked the official to conduct a probe into the materials used and take action against the contractor.
The administrator also told the executive engineer to file an FIR against the contractor. During an inspection, Kumar noticed that the recently constructed roads in Sector 14 had developed potholes.
The Sector 14 residents had approached the administrator and sought his intervention after the road developed cracks. "The junior engineer has been informed about the action. He didn't turn up during the inspection due to some personal reasons," said Naresh Pawar.
The executive engineer said he had already initiated the probe into the quality of materials used in the repair work. However, he was sympathetic towards his subordinate. "The concrete might have given in due to bad weather. Ideally, winter is not suited for construction work," argued the executive engineer.
On Saturday, the state government suspended superintending engineer VK Ghai for using poor quality materials for constructing a road connecting Sector 4-5 to Palam Vihar.
Chief administrator DPS Nagal of the Huda, administrator Praveen Kumar, VK Ghai and other Huda officials had inspected the road early morning on Saturday.
