The man voted sexiest in the world is set to come to India. Hugh Jackman, the Australian superstar, will in all probability visit here as part of his promotional tour for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, for which he is both producer and lead actor.
Fox Star Studios India, the Indian arm of 20th Century Fox, is yet to confirm the news officially. But HT City has learnt from a reliable source in the studio that the international office is working on the itinerary to bring the actor to India, even if for just a day.
A spokesperson from Fox Star Studios India says on condition of anonymity, “It is true that we are in the process of getting Hugh Jackman to visit India. Some final confirmations are awaited, though. However, it’s too soon to discuss his itinerary here. It all depends on how much time he is able to give to this trip.”
When HT City met Jackman in Sydney recently, he had expressed a keen desire to visit India. “I love the country,” he said. “I got to feel India at the Oscars this time. Oh, the [Slumdog] kids were amazing. They exuded immense energy and vibrancy on stage. I’m friends with Shekhar Kapur and we often discuss Indian films.”
The studio is debating whether the star should arrive in Mumbai or Delhi. If he has enough time, Jackman will also interact with some Bollywood biggies.
He recently started his promotional tour from Sydney’s Cockatoo Island, where major parts of the film have been shot, followed by Seoul, South Korea. Wolverine is set to release in India on May 1 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telegu.
