British actor Hugh Grant has disclosed that he had proposed to Jemima Khan, the former wife of Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, to marry him. He also said that he was "ready to become the stepfather" of her two sons from Imran.
However, Jemima has reportedly "not yet accepted" the proposal.
This is the first time when Grant has proposed marriage to Jemima in the last more than three years of their affair.
Grant has also revealed to the media that he has already become "something of a surrogate father to Jemima’s eldest son Sulaiman", now 10, and says he loves the way Jemima pampers him.
"I’ve become a cricket mum, actually. I started taking the boy to his cricket match on Saturdays, and I loved it. I got way too enthusiastic and competitive," The News quoted Grant as saying in an interview with the Vogue magazine.
Grant has given a strong hint that he wanted to start a family with his girlfriend Jemima Khan.
Imran’s reaction to Grants interview was unknown. At the time of divorce, Imran and Jemima developed an understanding that their children can visit Pakistan to meet Imran and Imran can visit them any time in London. However, after Jemima marries Grant, there might be a new kind of arrangements regarding the children.
Grant (46) also said that Jemima has agreed with him to the idea of leading a traditional domestic life.
His comments follow speculation that he and Jemima—who began dating in 2004 — could have happy news that they plan to announce any day.
Grant has compiled a list for her of his favourite movies, which includes Goodfellas and the Monty Python films, and is encouraging her to read his favourite novels, particularly Kingsley Amis’s Lucky Jim.
