English filmmaker Graham Hughes, who is undertaking ‘The Odyssey Expedition’, is attempting to set a Guinness record for visiting every single country in the world without once taking a plane or driving a car.
He has spent the past year talking to himself, and filming himself, on the adventure of a lifetime. With 142 countries down, he now has only about 50 more to go.
“Most places I go to, I end up getting called ‘cowboy’, or something along those lines, by the local kids. But generally speaking, everyone’s been great. People have been friendly to me all over the world,” he says. Fourteen months and four continents into his Odyssey, Hughes is now headed from a bus terminal in Paris to Italy, and then on to North Africa… And from there, Central Asia and on. As far as he can get on two legs and a dream. — AFP
