Nearly 300 bats died due to blistering heat in the district where the temperature had crossed 48 degrees this week, officials said on Saturday.
"Nearly 300 bats were recently found in Nagaji garden located in Nayapura area in Kota," they said.
"Postmortem reports established that heat stroke killed so many bats. Bats mostly set up their abode at places which are not very hot but the prevailing weather conditions are unusual," Ramesh Pareek, Ranger of Kota Zoo, said.
He said similar reports were received from Bundi where a large number of bats were found dead near Ratna Sagar lake, he added.
