The organisers of a beauty pageant is confidant that this year's edition of the event to choose Miss Kerala 2010 will receive participation from Malayali girls around the world.
Impresario Event Management India, the producer of the annual pageant said that the event to be held in Cochin on August 5 is open to young women who have their origins in Kerala with either the father or mother from the state.
Harish Babu, Pageant Producer of Miss Kerala, said: "The Miss Kerala pageant is popular among the Keralite expatriate community in the Gulf region.
Two of our winners in earlier years have been from the UAE. This year, we expect even stronger participation from Malayalis around the world."
Last year, Archana Nair, a bio-medical engineering student from Stanford University in the US, was adjudged the winner.
"Winning the Miss Kerala pageant opened up a lot of opportunities. In winning the pageant, the key is to being confident. Our confidence must communicate to the judges and the audience," she said.
Nova Krishnan and Shree Thulasi, both from the UAE, have earlier won the crown.
Thulasi Mohan, winner of Miss Kerala 2008 from Abu Dhabi, said being part of the event was a great experience and winning was double the joy.
"The show was a real confidence booster for me both in professional and personal life... I feel people must grab the chance and participate in this prestigious pageant," she told PTI.
Organised under the auspices of Miss Kerala Foundation, the event also supports numerous charities across the state, especially childcare.
This year the focus is on the 'Save a Girl Child' mission, and the winner will devote her time to working for the programme.
