I am not interested in vanity-fuelled projects: Pooja Bhatt

Pooja Bhatt recently backed out as the co-producer of Bad, citing budget issues. The director-actor says, "I have made Jism 2 (2012) in Rs 7 crores in 40 days and it did business of Rs 40 crores. If my future ventures cannot compete with that, then I am not interested in making movies that are vanity-fuelled projects."

Pooja Bhatt recently decided to back out as the co-producer of director Prawaal Raman’s film, Bad, starring Randeep Hooda. She blamed budget issues for the move. But Prawaal believes that every aspect of the film was pre-planned and had the budget of the film changed, he wouldn’t have continued shooting it.

"If the budget was supposedly an issue, then I wouldn't be shooting in Goa right now. How can I plan something which is not part of the script? I was supposed to shoot in Udaipur, Goa, Delhi and Thailand. The director, actors and producers are going ahead with the film the way it was planned. I have two more schedules and have already begun the post-production of the film," says Prawaal.

But Pooja thinks otherwise.

"First of all, directors are not experts on budgets unless they are producers too. So, I would recommend that he focus on the creative perspective of the film. I would request Prawaal to not make comments that are beyond his area of expertise," she says.

Pooja also claims that the film is not being shot as per the schedule. "If you have planned to shoot a film for 40 days and suddenly shoot it for 60, then doesn’t the budget increase? Since the cost was spiralling out of control, I did not feel the project was financially feasible," she says.

"I have made Jism 2 (2012) in Rs 7 crores in 40 days and it did business of Rs 40 crores. If my future ventures cannot compete with that, then I am not interested in making movies that are vanity-fuelled projects."
