“I am married only once. To Sara. But I can have as many women as I want,” was what Goa Tourism Minister Francisco alias Mickky Pacheco told journalists while responding to bigamy charges levelled against him by his estranged wife Sara Pacheco last week. Adding “I am within the law to do it.”
When asked about his relationship with Viola Pacheco, who Sara claims is his second wife, Mickky on Tuesday said, “I am not married to her.”
Mickky, who is also a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) legislator said even NCP chief Sharad Pawar had acknowledged that the issue was personal.
Mickky has accused cabinet colleague and rival Churchill Alemao, who is the Public Works Division minister, of instigating Sara into making the allegations against him.
“He has paid her Rs 50 lakh to say these things. Sara is staying in a house owned by Churchill’s brother Kennedy Alemao,” he stated.
The minister said Alemao " has been sending feelers to settle the case, but I will not do it."
Earlier, Sara had accused Mickky of bigamy and forging documents to sell a luxury car and flats. She had also filed a case against him under the Domestic Violence Act, which is currently pending before a magistrate in Margao.
