Gurgaon police have arrested a 29-year-old woman from Tigra village for killing her cousin brother's 6-year-old son.
The victim’s family has alleged that the woman is also responsible for the murder of their three other children from 2007 onwards.
Ajit Singh, a resident of Tigra village near Sector 57, said his cousin Babita had killed his son Sunny, who had gone missing on October 10. The accused is their next-door neighbour.
“On October 11 we recovered Sunny’s body from Babita’s house. We took it as a case of natural death and cremated him. Later we found Sunny’s blood-stained clothes and shoes from her house,” Singh said.
Singh alleged that Babita also killed his 2-year-old son Gaurav by strangulating him. The toddler had gone missing on May 10, 2007.
“His body also was found from Babita's house. She and her two brothers had conspired to kill my sons to take control of our ancestral property,” he said.
Not only this, Babita’s other cousin Mahesh said his two-and-a-half-year-old son Saurabh had gone missing on August 23, 2007.
The minor’s body was also found from Babita’s house. The father suspects that his cousin was behind his son’s murder also.
“There were strangulation marks on his neck. And on November 26 last year, my six-year-old daughter Preeti died in a similar condition and her body was also recovered from Babita’s house. In fact Preeti had told us that she saw Babita killing my son but we ignored her. Fearing that Preeti would disclose this to all, Babita killed her too,” Mahesh alleged.
When asked why didn’t the family lodge a case against Babita if they suspected her role in the children's killing, they did not say anything.
But they said Babita probably wanted to eliminate the heirs to the ancestral property.
Bhopal, Babita’s husband, said that he was not aware of the killing or the motive behind it.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Jagdish Nagar said the accused admitted to have killed 6-year-old Sunny on October 10 as she couldn’t “bear the
hue and cry the boy would made”. However, she said she didn’t kill the
“We are also investigating into the allegations by the relatives. We have sought Babita’s police custody from the court,” Nagar added.
A local court today sent Babita into three-day police custody.
