Nelly Furtado has a strange India connect — she is a great fan of Asha Bhonsle, Lata Mangeshkar and all things Indian, like food, weddings and Bollywood. So, when she comes to Mumbai to perform at the Nokia’s New Year Eve, it would be living a dream.
Says Nelly, “I don’t know what this connect is, either because I’ve grown up in Canada where I’ve seen a lot of Indian culture or I got it in my lineage considering that the Portuguese travelled to India.”
Aamir’s Sonia: But for some error, India could have known Nelly for gyrating with Aamir Khan. “I was supposed to play the part of Sonia in Rang De Basanti and then something went wrong, though I’d love to be a part of Bollywood any time. I’m conscious of the Indian film scenario through directors like Deepa Mehta and Gurinder Chaddha and will be working on some projects soon.”
There was a time when this Canadian-Portuguese singer had reconsidered her decision to sing. Thank God, she thought otherwise.
