I don?t like the term match-fixing: Urmila
Urmila Matondkar speaks to Hiren Kotwani about her marriage, films and her new album with Asha Bhonsle.india Updated: Dec 20, 2006 12:11 IST
Actress Urmila Matondkar makes her debut with Mehbooba track for the album, Asha And Friends, but refuses to be called a crooning glory. Hiren Kotwani chats up with the star...
1 A well-guarded secret:
“Universal Music had approached me to cut an album around five to six years ago. But then I was busy so the project had to be shelved. For the song, I was so scared that I didn’t rehearse. And I didn’t want to listen to the song after the recording either.”
”I've always called myself a bathroom singer, I only sing in the shower and I’m not about to change that yet,” says Urmila Matondkar.
“If I paint once, I won’t become Leonardo Da Vinci. The same applies to singing,” she reasons.
2 Few things don’t change, like... :
“I’m one of the few actresses who are professional enough to be punctual. I made the watchmen unlock the gates of Mukesh Mills where we shot the video for the Mehbooba dilruba number for the album, Asha and Friends, since I was the first one to reach at the spot. Years ago, during Narsimha’s shooting, it was the same.”
3 A Matondkar clothing line?
“I’m quite satisfied with what I’m doing, thank you very much. If I don’t sign a film, I won’t go mad. I’m not guided by the need to be in the news."
"I can’t say anything about venturing into other professions like starting a clothing line at this point of time. I don’t see myself producing or directing films either.”
4 The perfect match:
“The guy must be the best-est. I don’t like the term match-fixing, even in cricket. My family is cool about it. So, what’s your problem dude?”
5 Grooving with the movers and shakers:
“Mehbooba with Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan in Ram Gopal Varma’s Sholay? With Abhishek in the picture, the song and the film has become the talk of the town. I enjoy dancing and any girl would give her best for this song.”
