I feel sorry for PM: LK Advani

india Updated: Mar 28, 2009 00:33 IST

BJP's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani on Friday said that if NDA is voted to power they will amend the Constitution so that only members of Lok Sabha can become the prime minister of the country.

Advani was training his guns at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who has been occupying the top post of the country as a member of Rajya Sabha.

“I was happy when Sonia Gandhi announced Manmohan Singh as their prime ministerial candidate. But I would have been happier if Singh had announced that he will fight elections and be PM if his party is voted to power,” Advani said.

“Many people ask me why I criticise Manmohan Singh. Frankly I feel sorry for him and don’t like criticising him,” Advani said.

However, he added, “But, I criticise him as it is not his but Sonia Gandhi's government.”

“This government of Sonia Gandhi has totally failed and it has no achievement on its record book,” Advani said.

"Only record that a government can show is largest number of farmer suicides and price rise.”
