Your performance in Dor was acclaimed. But you don’t figure in any award nominations. Upset?
I don’t know what nominations are out. I’ve never thought of awards. Still I won’t deny that it feels good to win an award, even thought it’s never been the driving factor.

So many top filmmakers want to sign you. But they’re wary that you’re a few months away from marriage.
I’ve never said that I’m getting married. I love my work and playing diverse roles in diverse films. Filmmmakers who want to work with me can check with me if their script interests me. If I like the role and I have the dates required, there’s no problem.

It would appear that you lack the killer instinct. And don’t you tend to put on weight?
Of course, I have a killer instinct. If a role appeals to me, I want to work with the director. If I like the set-up, then I’ll do it. I’m happy doing different roles instead of being a Number 1 or 2. At the end of the day, all that matters is that those who know and understand cinema have appreciated my performance. There’s nothing more satisfying than getting praised for your performance from the right quarters. I did look a bit plump in the films released earlier this year. But in the later films like Dor, I looked like the way I do now.

Apparently your father demands a huge fee for every film of yours.. which is why some filmmakers run the other way from you.
I don’t like to discuss money. To be honest, my dad asks for what I deserve. And I have been getting that because..there have never been any issues over money matters. So which filmmaker is wary of signing me?

Whom would you choose to work with, Aditya Chopra or Shyam Benegal?
Whoever gives me the better script and role.
