A day after differences cropped up with his sister Priya Dutt on the Samajwadi Party naming him the Lok Sabha candidate from Lucknow, actor Sanjay Dutt said on Thursday he was yet to decide on joining politics.
“I have not decided yet whether to join politics or not,” Dutt, who is in Kashmir shooting for Rahul Dholakia’s Lamhaa, told a local cable TV network.
Priya, a Congress Member of Parliament, had on Wednesday voiced disappointment at her brother's decision to contest elections on an SP ticket, saying their father, late Sunil Dutt, was a Congressman and the family had always been associated with the party.
Sanjay said his father was more of a social worker than a politician and for him politics was a way to serve people.
For local youth, the actor’s message was clear. Non-violence and Gandhigiri are the best way to live. “Violence leads to destruction and nothing else,” the actor, whose film Lage Raho Munna Bhai advocated Gandhi’s way of protest, or Gandhigiri, said.
