After making tall claims of not kissing anymore, the serial kisser of Bollywood takes a U-turn. He tells Deepti Kaul the juicy details.
After making tall claims of quitting kissing, you have kissed your co-star in Gangster. Does this mean you are back to lip-locking in films?
I didn't want to kiss in this film. But, when director Anurag Basu narrated the story, we understood that the kiss was an integral part of the film. That is why I did it. It is an underwater kiss and this is the last film in which I am kissing.
Is your image of a serial kisser behind your success? How much of it would you say has contributed to your popularity?
What can I say? I think now the audience have accepted kissing as part of films.
How does your fiancée react when she sees you indulging in steamy scenes on-screen?
Parvin had problems long time back but now she understands that I am an actor and that if there are pros about my profession, there are also cons. Yes, I would be lying if I said that she is indifferent, but I am grateful that she accepts gracefully the fact that I am an actor identified with hot kisses.
You once revealed that you were upset with Mallika Sherawat for hogging the limelight in Murder. What kind of rapport do you share with her at present?
I haven't met Mallika since Murder's release. So, I can't say anything on that.
She is a newcomer but she doesn't seem like one at all. She is a thorough professional. It was a wonderful experience working with her.
Tell us about your forthcoming projects.
I am doing Subhash Ghai's next film God Boy Bad Boy; it's a romantic comedy.
