Sitarist Anoushka Shankar has said she is not acting in documentary filmmaker Ahsan Hyder's Breaking Free as reported but plans to "carefully choose something" that she feels right.
"It's true that I met with Hyder about his film. I found it interesting but after reading the script and going through the initial process I decided it was not the right film for me to do," Anoushka said in a statement.
There were reports that Anoushka will be taking part in Breaking Free opposite Emraan Hashmi.
Last month, Anoushka's manager Earl Blackburn informed Hyder that she could not be involved with the film.
"I am confused he would tell the press that I'm involved one month after my manager clearly told him I would not be," Anoushka, who is on the Anoushka Shankar Project world tour, said.
However, the daughter of the legendary Ravi Shankar said she is not averse to acting in Bollywood films.
"I am looking at several scripts, some of them from Bollywood, and plan to carefully choose something that feels right for me," she said.
Anoushka's half-sister Norah Jones had recently made her film debut in Wong Kar Wai's My Blueberry Nights.
