Congress star campaigner Rahul Gandhi announced in his poll rallies here on Wednesday that he was a servant of the people, while the ruling NDA leaders were living in ivory towers.
He said, "Though I am a five-year-old in politics, I've understood that a rajneta (a politician) is janata ka naukar (a people's servant)."
He attacked the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar for trying to claim credits for non-existent development in the state.
On the outbursts of leaders of the National Democratic Alliance against him, Gandhi said, "Some NDA leaders say I do not have political understanding. That may be true. But I have an understanding of the basic realities that exist in villages."
He said although the Centre had been giving maximum funds to Bihar, "where does the money go? This is not the money of the Congress, (Prime Minister) Manmohan Singh or (party chief) Sonia Gandhi. This is people's money."
