Ghosla ka Parvin Dabas gets talking with Sonil Dedhia
Knock knock. Where have you vanished after Khosla ka Ghosla?
Hang on, you'll be seeing more of me... in N Chandra's Breaking News, Sanjay Gupta's Alibaug and Arindam Nandy's Via Darjeeling. And there's Sirf and an international movie called The World Unseen.
Isn't it frustrating to be on the fringes of the film industry?
Of course not. No one gets success without failure. Because I've seen failure, I can now do the kind of work I want to. If you ask me, that's being successful. Doing a Rs 50 crore film doesn't spell success for me. I've never felt frustrated in my life because of my profession. I do what I feel like.
Why have you often taken up brief roles?
I've been taken advantage of. The script says something and something else happens. I don't trust anyone which is why I stopped doing films for a while.. before the hero's role came along in Khosla Ka Ghosla.
(Laughs) I would like to believe my acting in Khosla.. was up to the mark.. at least the critics didn't say anything to the contrary .
Ever thought of television?
Maybe four years ago, I would have given that a thought.. but not right now. I did think of doing theatre but nothing materialised.
Will your relationship with Preeti Jhangiani culminate into marriage?
(Laughs) Why talk about my personal life? I've never denied my relationship with Preeti.. unlike others, I haven't used the ‘good friend' term.
Let me ask you about your passion for underwater photography. What are you planning to shoot next?
I don't know what will be next.. photography is just a different side of me. It's a hobby with me for many years. I've won seven international awards for photography. Not bad, huh?
