She still has the charm to steal the show and Karisma Kapur proved it at Taj Bengal, Kolkata on Saturday afternoon. As the media mobbed her, she faced it all with a smile.
First things first — Will she or won’t she? That’s the million-dollar question. With most of her contemporaries already back, Lolo prefers to play a hide and seek game with the media on her comeback plans — oops, did we say comeback?
"What comeback? I was just on maternity leave. That’s it. Is that what you call comeback?" retorts Karisma, back in Kolkata after four years to endorse a product.
The media has been agog about Karisma doing Onir’s You and I. When we ask her, she says diplomatically,
"I wouldn’t like to comment on it. Yes, his is one of the many scripts that I have read, but I am yet to sign on dotted lines." The talented actor’s last release was Mere Jeevan Saathi with Akshay Kumar and Ameesha Patel early this year. (A little birdie tells us that she’s agreed to do the Onir film for a price of a little over Rs 20 lakh.)
Onir refuses to confirm. He says, "She has said yes, but there are some discussions on the monetary front. I think she wants to officially announce the project once everything is formalised."
Be it Onir’s film or something else, Karisma is eager to be back on screen. She says she is even ready to experiment with her looks since, "I want to do something different which I have never done before."
She’s looking as gorgeous as ever, even a little slimmer. The secret behind her fit look? "My daughter Samaira. Running after her keeps me fit as you know I am a hands-on mother," she says with a smile.
Karisma couldn’t have chosen a better time to start her second innings. "The audience has grown so much and look at the amazing scripts some young directors are coming up with. There are so many new talents," says the actor. She will be back in 2007, she assures.
So get ready for some Lolo magic again.
