It doesn't happen often that one is approached by a filmmaker like Prakash Jha for a movie and when actress Katrina Kaif fell in the same bracket, rather than being pleasantly surprised, she was shocked with non-belief.
"I was shocked when Prakash ji approached me for Raajneeti. I asked him if he'd seen any of my films and he was not confusing me with anyone else," said Katrina, who has mostly done lighter roles and plays a politician in Raajneeti.
The 25-year-old plays a character inspired from the epic Mahabharata's Draupadi in the upcoming political drama and considers it to be a big leap.
"This is a different step I'm taking forward (in films) and I hope people like it," she added.
Also starring an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar, Naseeruddin Shah, Manoj Bajpai and Arjun Rampal, Raajneeti is releasing on June 4.
