Would you like to contest again, and why should the people re-elect you?
Sharifuddin Shariq: I’ll definitely contest. My performance will speak for itself.

What do you see as the high points of your five-year term?
I have tried to represent Kashmir in Parliament. All issues important for Kashmir and Kashmiris were raised. Whether it was the Kashmir dispute or the ‘injustice’ meted out to Afzal Guru by the central government. I raised it all.

What’s that which you had wished to do as an MP but couldn’t? And why?
I have worked for the betterment of my people and I would say there is nothing that I couldn’t manage.

Would you like to contest again, and why should the people re-elect you?
I will definitely contest. My performance will speak for itself. I have tried to work a lot for the benefit of my people in terms of better health care and education facilities.

How has been your experience in Parliament that witnessed highest-ever number of disruptions?
The disruptions were unfortunate. They should never have happened, but despite all this, a lot of good work was done. Some historic legislations, such as the food security bill, women’s reservation bill and the land acquisition bill, were passed.
