Brazil and South Africa have supported India's efforts to get the nuclear nations to change their approach to enhance international civilian nuclear cooperation.

This was noted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his address to the first summit of the India-Brazil-South Africa forum that was held in Brasilia.

"On nuclear energy, I appreciate that fact that IBSA has lent its support for forward-looking approaches to enhance international civilian nuclear cooperation," he said in his speech.

The summit's support to the Indian stand comes in the context of New Delhi's efforts to get the nuclear nations to adjust their guidelines so that countries like India could share the benefits of international civilian nuclear cooperation.
