CONFUSION PERSISTED till late night whether Id will be celebrated on Tuesday or Wednesday. The electronic media from Delhi further compounded the confusion by flashing conflicting reports.
However, Shahar Qazi Maulana Abdul Latif announced that on the basis of sighting the moon, Id would be celebrated on October 25.
The Markaz Committee had also decided that Id would not be celebrated on Tuesday since the moon had not been sighted.
The Madhya Pradesh Muslim Tehwar Committee had announced a schedule of special prayers at various mosques on Tuesday but it was later withdrawn.
Traffic arrangements made by the police would now come into force on Wednesday. Earlier, people in large numbers had climbed on their roofs after Maghrib ki namaz for sighting the moon but they returned disappointed.
