Idols worth Rs 10 crore seized in UP

Three persons have been arrested with a mixed-metal idol worth Rs 10 crore from Sihapar railway crossing on Gorakhpur-Lucknow highway.

Three persons were arrested with a mixed-metal idol worth Rs 10 crore from Sihapar railway crossing on Gorakhpur-Lucknow highway, police said on Monday.

The two feet high idol of 'Ram-Sita' weighing about 11 kg was recovered from three persons as they tried to escape during a regular vehicle check at Sihapar railway crossing on Saturday, SSP K Satyanaraina said.

The accused have been identified as Lallu Singh of Basti, Himanshu Shekhar Singh of Deoria and Surendra Prasad of Gorakhpur, he added.

Four stolen mobiles and Rs 500 cash were recovered from their possession, he said, adding further investigation is on.
