IED expert of ULFA nabbed in Assam's Tinsukhia

A hardcore ULFA militant and an IED expert of the group's elite strike force 28th battalion was nabbed by army in Assam's Tinsukia district, officials said on Monday.

Bitopan Moran was arrested from Rajgarh Tea Estate under Makum police station of the district. Two kg of IED and 16 AK-47 bullets were recovered from him.

Moran was nabbed last year from here along with a bomb which he had allegedly planned to plant at the Parade Ground to be exploded on Independence Day but was discharged after four months.

The accused have been identified as Lallu Singh of Basti, Himanshu Shekhar Singh of Deoria and Surendra Prasad of Gorakhpur, he added.

Four stolen mobiles and Rs 500 cash were recovered from their possession, he said, adding further investigation is on.
