An object similar to an improvised explosive device kept inside a pressure cooker by suspected NDFB militants has been recovered from railway tracks at Pasnoy in Assam's Sonitpur district.

The device left on railway tracks over a bridge near Majbat in the Dhekiajuli police station area was noticed by a person last evening, official sources said today.

The Army bomb disposal squad recovered the new five-litre capacity pressure cooker inside which a plastic bag containing IED-like parts was kept, the sources said.

The suspicious bomb was being examined to ascertain if it was an explosive, the sources said adding the NDFB's anti-talk faction was suspected to have planted the bomb.
