Iftekhar Cricket: IPC drub Gwalior Division

IPC XI today registered first win after defeating Gwalior Division in the 31st Udai-Iftekhar All India Cricket Tournament being organised at Bab-e-Aali Stadium. Jatin Saxena of IPC was declared HT Man of the Match.

IPC XI today registered first win after defeating Gwalior Division in the 31st Udai-Iftekhar All India Cricket Tournament being organised at Bab-e-Aali Stadium. Jatin Saxena of IPC was declared HT Man of the Match.

Playing its first match in the tournament against Gwalior Division, IPC dominated the rival team in every department of the game. After winning the toss, it was an easy decision for IPC to bat first as the wicket was helping the batsmen.

Batting first, IPC scored 286 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Scoring his first century of the tournament, opener Jatin Saxena, in a way, sent out the message that IPC has the potential to cause upsets.  In his 137-run innings, Jatin smashed five sixes and 13 boundaries. The merciless attack on leading bowlers of Gwalior Division was the major attraction.

Mohsin and Murtuza Ali scored 41 and 34 runs respectively. Anupam Rathore scalped three wickets but failed to stop batsmen from scoring runs.

Chasing the target, Gwalior suffered early setbacks as team lost three wickets for just 32 runs. When the team was struggling to score runs, Kunal Goswami demonstrated excellent cricket by scoring runs without giving any opportunity to the opponents. His 114 run innings brought the team back in the match.

When the team was heading for an easy win, the paceman Asad Baig and Shantanu, once again applied breaks on free flow batting by claiming important wickets. Their good bowling restricted Gwalior Division to 252 in 47.2 overs.

Managing Director ‘My Car’ Maruti showroom, Saurabh Garg awarded HT Man of the Match trophy to Jatin Saxena. BDCA vice-president Aruneshwar Singhdeo, BDCA secretary Dr Shafquat Mohammad Khan, organising committee chairman, Hamidullah Khan ‘Mamu’, organising secretary Rajat Mohan Verma, UDAI Sports, Cultural, Social and Educational Society director Vijesh Lunawat and others were present.
