Major helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky would now be represented in India by the InterGlobe General Aviation (IGA), with both companies announcing a long- term partnership in New Delhi on Thursday.
IGA, a subsidiary of InterGlobe Enterprises, which already represents aircraft firms Hawker Beechcraft, Atlanta Jet and Aircraft Services Group in the country, would now be responsible for commercial sales of Sikorsky's helicopters too in India, its CEO Nigel Harwood said in New Delhi.
"We are pleased to enter into this long term association with Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, the market demand in India is significant ... We are delighted to be associated with the original inventor of helicopters - Sikorsky," Harwood said.
Exuding confidence on a rising demand for choppers in the country and their association with IGA, Sikorsky's MD (India & South Asia) AVM (Retd) AJS Walia said "we see great potential in this market and are confident that this partnership with IGA will add value and strengthen our base in India considerably."
"Our helicopters exemplify safety, style and luxury and we hope to enhance our existing list of Indian patrons," Walia said.
Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation is a subsidiary of $62 billion United Technologies of America and is known for its world-class helicopters, like Black Hawk, S76, S-92, Ch-53.
