THE INDIAN INSTITUTE of Management-Lucknow (IIM-L) has ruled out an immediate hike in fees. Any decision on the issue will be taken around June. IIM-L director Prof Devi Singh told the HT that even though the IIM-A had announced its plan to hike fees, the IIM-L would consider a hike only after all the IIMs finalised theirs.

“During a meeting of the IIM directors, a decision was reached that all IIMs would keep their fees uniform. So, we are not going in for any hike immediately,” Prof Singh said. Asked whether uniformity would mean that the IIM-L would peg its fee-structure to that of the IIM-A, Prof Singh said each IIM would decide as per its requirements.

“The uniformity issue was simply to ensure that there was no yawning gap between the fee structure of all the six IIMs. We want to wait for the other IIMs to decide on the issue before going ahead with the decision,” Prof Singh said. At present, IIM-L post graduate programme (PGP) I students pay around Rs 1.36 lakh per annum. Those in PGP II have to pay Rs 1.45 lakh.
